Week 37

At our appointment this week we found out the results of the Group B strep test (it was negative) , again my belly was measured, and we got to hear her heartbeat. Yet again everything is good. Doctor F also said that I had dropped slightly and that as he was about to put the Doppler device to my belly that I had a contraction. It was only a little Braxton hicks...but that does mean things are getting ready. Next week he will start checking for dilation and effacement. So at this point I guess she could really come at anytime. I am thinking that she may be right on time. :)

This week has also be full of prepping...getting my room ready (just in case), getting Madi's room ready, and doing everything that needs to be done before she arrives. I think I have mastered the carrier/car seat and have everything pretty orderly in my classroom. I even began prepping the kids for the day that Mrs. Dougherty isn't there.

I think we are almost ready. :)

Week 36

All is well this week. Had the group B strep test, belly was measured, and listened to the heartbeat. All is good. She is still moving around like crazy and this week I had a few nights of sleep that were a little hard.

My team at school also gave me a fabulous baby shower. I love my Carver family! I will post pics when I get them.

Week 34

Ok, so I haven't been very good about doing this each week. Things are just super busy with school and getting ready for the baby.

That being said here's the latest update -
I went to my 34 week appointment today and I am measuring right on at 34. The baby's heart rate is 140, which is right where it should be. She should be weighing about 5 lbs or so right now and is roughly 20 or so inches long, but we won't know for sure until she is born.

The doctor felt around to see where she was positioned and her head is down.
That means it has been her feet kicking me up high lately. Yesterday at school while I was reading to the kids I could feel her little foot... it was neat cause she did that throughout the day. I can't post a pic cause I left the camera at school, but I will tomorrow.

Her room is almost ready...I bought a cubbie shelf today and put it together to hold books and toys and stuff. It is pretty cute. There is one wall that I am not 100 % happy with, but we still have a little bit of time. We have figured out how to use the carrier in the stroller...now it's time to figure out the car seat before the big day. I have also packed clothes for the baby and my bag is almost packed too. After that all that is left to do is relax...YEAH RIGHT!

Madi's room!

Here is what Madison's room looks like as of right now. We still have a little bit more to do, but it is almost done!

week 32

We had an appointment this past Friday. All went well. The heartbeat sounded good and I am still measuring right on date. She is still moving around like crazy too. This week I did notice swelling of my ankles...I have been getting my classroom ready and we also had meet the teacher night, that meant a lot of time on my feet.Well, my room is ready and my class seems to be pretty sweet. Hopefully they will stay that way. Here is a pic of me at about 32 weeks.

Shower

My sister and my mom threw Madison and I a baby shower. It was a huge success! As you can tell from the pics. These are pictures of the aftermath.

Week 29

According to the baby websites...we are now in the home stretch...the last trimester.

Right now the baby is approximately 15 inches long and weighs 2 1/2 lbs. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature. And she is growing her bones so a lot of calcium is being absorbed. I still feel pretty much the same. She is still moving around like crazy. Last week we attended our breastfeeding class which we got a lot of information from. It seems a little scary to think about, but once she gets here I am sure that things will work out fine. Charles was one of 2 men there and he even asked some questions. It was a long class, but we did learn some really good things that we will be able to use. This coming week we start Childbirth classes. Right now I am still seeing the doctor every 2 weeks and our next appointment will be on Friday.

On Saturday July 31 -
My family and I went to celebrate my Opie's (my mom's dad) 84th birthday. There was food, fun, and family. My cousin also threw me a baby shower. We played some pretty fun games where we had to guess the candy that was melted in a diaper and we got to taste baby food. I'll post pictures as soon as my sister sends them too me. We had a good time. It is always fun to visit with family, especially ones that you don't get to see very often.

Week 28

Here we are at week 28:
We had an appointment today and I also had my glucose test. The drink wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't want to drink 3 liters of it or anything. We'll find out on Monday the results of the test.

After the blood was drawn, we saw Dr. F. We got to hear the heartbeat again and he measured my belly. That was pretty much it...he said that everything looked good. He said be ready cause the belly is gonna grow a lot in the next few months.

Baby girl weighs about 2 1/4 lbs and is about 14.8 inches from head to heals. She can blink and is now developing more neurons and fat to get her ready for her debut. I put on about 2 more lbs myself and have been having some hip pain at night when I am sleeping on my side. Upon waking up I have very stiff ankles as well. I have been noticing a little tightness of my belly at times, but it always seems to go away...maybe Braxton hicks?

Other than that I feel pretty good. My mom and sister are getting things ready for my shower - which I am pretty excited about. Charles and I have been getting her room ready for her as well. I have been washing clothes and hanging and putting them away. Thanks to Kameron and Kara, my own shopping, and early gifts.... I already ran out of hangers -back to Target I go.

After filling out lots of applications, checking websites daily, and talking to anyone that can help...Charles has an interview with a school district!!! We are pretty excited and are keeping our fingers crossed and praying each night. All he needs is a start somewhere. Good luck on Monday daddy!

Week 27

OK, so I am officially going to blog every week about the baby and what is going on in the life of the Dougherty's. I should have started this when I got pregnant at the beginning to help document the pregnancy, but I didn't so I have decided to move past that. With that being said...

Here we are at week 27 -

Baby girl weighs about 2 lbs right now and mommy weighs...well, we aren't gonna say what mommy weighs but I will say that at this point I have gained 15 lbs. Which isn't bad so far, according to the Dr. I will prolly gain 35 or so lbs. YIKES! More brain tissue is developing, she is sleeping at regular intervals, and may be sucking her fingers. She is approximately 14 inches long according to BabyCenter.com. In real life, she was making it hard for me to sleep until I got an extra long pillow...Thank you Target! Now it is much better, the only time I am up is to pee usually around 3 or 4 am. I feel her kick and move a lot now, especially when I am lying down. She is very active. Charles has even felt her kick too. Oh, did I mention that my stomach itches like crazy as well! That just means that she is growing and lucky me I am getting bigger.

The other night Charles said he had a dream about her. In the dream she was singing and had red hair. I was also informed that she was cute. I have to admit I am a little jealous about not having a dream about her yet, but in a way -or so I read- Charles is bonding with her, as I am every day. So maybe I shouldn't be jealous.

Stay tuned to next week...

2 year anniversary

This past weekend Charles and I went away for the weekend. We ended up in College Station. We decided that since we had not been in 2 years it was about time to go back. It was really nice to get away from everything and remember the good old times. We went to some old places that hold many college memories and we made some new memories at some new places. Charles even bought baby Dougherty her second Aggie outfit. I told him to pick it out and he did a great job ...we even decided that the next time we come back we have another one in mind.

I can't believe that we have been married 2 years already. The time has gone by so fast and a lot has happened. This time next year we'll have a new addition to our family. Time has gone by really fast with that too. Today I was in the baby's room putting up curtains and looking at the many clothes that she has already. This is one loved little girl...I can't wait for her to get here! I already feel so much love for her.

Here are a few pics from our weekend.

Charles feeding the ducks and turtles at Research Park.
We gave them left over fries from Fitzwillys.

We had dinner at Maddens in Bryan. Super yummy!
Check out our dessert.

We also went by and took pics on campus where we saw a family of skunks crossing the road.
You can't really see them in the pic cause they were moving, but look for the black smudges.

Boyce/Taylor Wedding

On June 11 we set out for Houston for a wedding weekend. Friday was the rehearsal and Saturday was the wedding. It was a lot of fun seeing good friends that we don't get to see that often. Everyone lives in different places now and it is getting harder to get together often. But when we do get together we always end up having tons of fun.

The boys modeling one of their gifts.
Yummy cakes!
The new Mr. and Mrs. Boyce!
Congrats!!! We are so happy for the both of you.
