Since I haven't posted in a while...

Here's what you missed...

John and Charsy got married in October. We had a blast in Dallas.

We had our first Halloween party. That was also fun. Thanks to Christie for the decorations and costume fun. On Halloween we went to 6th street for even more fun.

Charles turned 30 on November 4th! Happy birthday babe! We had dinner at Z Tejas.

Now...

We are pretty much ready for Christmas. I am super glad to be on Christmas vacation. I need a well deserved break. The rest of this week will be filled with family fun and traditions. I can't wait to watch Christmas movies, snuggle on the couch, open presents, and look at lights.

Merry Christmas everyone!

How cute is this?

He loves his "house" so much he goes in there when he wants to, not just when we tell him to.

Who wears the pants?

Bailey and Rowdy wear the pants, but they can't get out of them! This is what we do when we get bored.

Hockey!

Yesterday we went to our second hockey game but our first at the new complex in Cedar Park. The Texas Stars played the Dallas Stars. It was pretty fun and the place is way better than the expo center where the Ice Bats used to play. We even got at shout out on the big screen. Thanks Jay for inviting us!

Go Stars!

Updates on the Doughertys

Well, this year is off to a new start with me and my new kindergarten class. There is a bit less room this year due to more little bodies, but we are still having fun learning. I also have more frogs in my room this year too. If you didn't know already I have a frog theme and it seems they have exploded a little this year. I just finished my second week and after today we start week 3. Thank goodness for a 3 day weekend. Other than school I am just pretty much trying to get back on schedule.

Charles is still working for UT doing his thing. He is still on the look out for a teaching/coaching job so keep your eyes and ears opened. He is also pretty excited about football season starting. It really helps that the Aggies won too. A couple of weeks ago, he got a new car. A Volkswagen Jetta. It is silver and has leather interior. It's really nice. I'll post a pic soon.

We are still working on putting things away and getting our house totally done. We still have boxes of things in the garage and stuff is still in random places. It's a work in progress. Our kitchen table chairs aren't quite done yet, but Charles has been taking it easy since he sliced his finger and because it has been so hot lately, but we are hoping they will be done by the Halloween party.

The dogs are still being crazy. They had a fun time this summer when we took them swimming and now they are getting used to us being away again for most of the day. Rowdy loves to chase the birds in the backyard and Bailey just seems to bark at everything.

All and all, I'd say we are off to a pretty good start. I look forward to see what the future holds for the Doughertys. ;)

Week one done!

Well, I made it through the first week of school. As of right now I have 20 kindergarteners and the number will probably go up as the year goes on. It has been a very exhausting week, but hopefully in a few weeks we will all be back into the swing of things. How many more weeks are left????

8 days later...

Even though school doesn't start for another 2 weeks, I still headed up to school. 2 weeks ago I started working and coming up to school. This is what my room looks like now. I still have some work to do, but for the most part it pretty much done. I still have to put names on cubbies, tables, hooks, and put some center things out, but I plan on getting all that done next week when we have to come back.

I have to admit, I am getting pretty excited about this school year, but I am also a little scared too. This year we lost 2 kinder teachers because our numbers were low last year, this year may be a different story. Numbers will be closer to 22 than to 15. AHHHH! It seems every year flies by and every year I do something a little bit differently. I love it! I wouldn't want to be doing anything else for a living.

Ahhh...where to begin...

With summer winding down, it is almost time to head back to school. Today Charles and I went to take the heavy stuff off my back counter, so this is what my room looks like now. I still have a lot to do. :(

Charles' Project

Check out our awesome dresser that Charles refinished. It looks great..he did a fantastic job. His next project is finishing the chairs to our kitchen table.

1 Year Anniversary

Yesterday Charles and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary. It is hard to believe it has gone by so fast. Each day our love grows more and more. I am so blessed to have found such a wonderful man.

We had dinner at Fogo De Chao. It was my first time there. We got there and we were the only people at the restaurant. Only because we got there right as it opened. The food was yummy and boy was there a lot of it. We even got a little creme brulee treat. It was fantastic.

After that we came home and had some champagne and ate the top layer of our wedding cake. Well, we didn't actually eat it, but we took a bite and it was gross. So we threw it away. It tasted much better a year ago.

We also watched our wedding video and had some laughs. All in all, it was a great day! I can't wait till our 2nd anniversary.

4th of July

For the 4th we decide to venture to Dallas to visit our friends Jayne and Kyle and Charsy and John. We made the drive to Big 'D' on Thursday after I had a teacher workshop and Charles took a certification test. It was a long drive, but it was fun to see everyone.

Here's a pic of our new fav place...BJ's. We ate there once with Jayne and Kyle and the next day with John and Charsy.
Here's our new pal Alamo. He didn't like the fireworks.

And yes we saw fireworks. I discovered while trying to take a good picture of them...that I need a new camera bad!

No trip is complete with out some friendly board games.

Here's a little sample of our work. The top is watermelon and under the line...

What's your guess?

Texas Reds Festival

Charles and I went to the Texas Reds Festival in Bryan. It was a lot of fun. We got to taste various wines from all around Texas and we got to eat a delicious steak. Did I mention we also got to see Robert Earl Keen?

We had a couple of bumps along the way...a lost steak dinner ticket, me feeling sick (eventually I felt better, thank goodness), and REK coming out 45 minutes late. All in all, it was a good time. I just love listening to REK, it always takes me back to my old college days. Ah, memories... We even got to see some random and very drunk guy fall into some bushes, not once, but twice.

Another Turtle

This post is a little late...

On June 20th, Charles and I were getting ready for the Texas Reds Festival and he went outside and found this...

Yep, it's another turtle, but this time he is in our driveway. It wasn't long ago that we saved another one. Well, after careful observation we decided that this was not the same turtle and we decided to take it back to the lake...even the dogs were a little curious.

I like turtles!
