Christmas

Our Christmas celebrating began on Dec. 13 when my mom hosted Christmas for her side of the family. The day was filled with presents, laughter, and food.

Then on Dec. 23rd my mom and dad had Christmas for me, my sister, and Charles. Again there was presents, laughter and more food. The pups even got a present of their own. The bone would later make Bailey sick. She threw up until she got every last piece out of her system. She's fine now, thank goodness.

On the 25th we were off to Longview with the dogs. It probably took about 4 hours to get there. When we got there we got to visit with some of Charles relatives; Aunt Gail, Uncle Jack, Granny, Johnny, and Brent and his family. The children were very excited to play with the dogs. Oh, before our trip we had to head to Pet Smart to pick up a new little "house" for the dogs. We call it a house but in reality its more like a cage, well crate I guess. We needed one for them at his aunts house. They seem to love it. I have even caught them inside it when they don't even need to be in it.

For the first time in a long time I was unable to make it to my dad's side of the family's Christmas. I wasn't able to be in 2 places at once so we had to choose. It makes it a little difficult but we survived. Thank you everyone for all the wonderful gifts.

On the 27th, Charles' mom and brother came to Round Rock for a visit as well. I got to see some old videos of him growing up. Too Cute!

All in all, our first Christmas as a married couple wasn't too bad. It seems as though Charles and I are out growing our apartment. We are running out of space for all of our junk. Maybe it's house hunting time. :)

I am usually pretty good about taking pictures, but this time I only have a few. Next year I'll be better. I promise.

Puppy Poses

Poor Rowdy

What more can I say? This is what happens when we get bored.

Today

Here we are on the eve of when my parents have Christmas. Charles and I finished our shopping yesterday. Yes, we braved the cold and we were late with the shopping since school let out so late for the holidays. What happened to having time off?

Anyway, tomorrow we are headed to my mom and dad's to celebrate. In true holiday fashion my goal is to get up real early and wake my sister up..."hey Christie, Santa came"... just like old times. I can remember it all to well, her waking me up when we were little or me waking her up as we got older.

I am excited about this year cause it's my first Christmas with Charles as husband and wife. I don't thing will be too much different than past Christmas' other than the fact we now have to plan out where we are going to go in order to make sure that we visit both families. Now comes the time when we have to decide who gets Christmas and who gets Thanksgiving. That's gonna make it tough.

Today has been kind of a lazy day, its so cold outside. We have pretty much stayed inside except to take the dogs out for a walk. Man, I am looking forward to getting a house with a backyard for them. The dogs have pretty much taken over the couch and the blankets too.

There they are all snugly together. I guess I was feeling a little festive, so while blogging I decided to make some cookies. Thanks to the PTA fundraiser all I had to do was turn the oven on and pull the cookies out of the freezer. Talk about easy. :)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

This year it seems that I am very excited about Christmas. Today I put up all the decorations and the tree as well. I also did a little Christmas shopping. Christmas is the best holiday! Maybe it's because we get time off from work to spend with our families, maybe it's the food, or maybe it's just the "magic" of it all. Enjoy the pics, even the pups got into the Christmas spirit.

Lazy Saturday

Well, we started the Saturday off with big plans of cleaning, laundry, giving the dogs a bath, etc, but things just didn't work out like we planned. We didn't have any paper towels to clean the bathroom. Bailey ended up crawling into Charles' clothes basket. I did happen to do a little laundry and then give Rowdy a bath, but before Bailey had her's Charles decided to make a Bailey burrito out of her. It was too funny! She didn't move for the longest time.
I added a picture of Rowdy, cause he' s just so cute!
Ah, Saturday.

Michelle and Robert's Wedding

Last weekend our friends Michelle and Robert got married. We had a really good time. We were able to see old friends and even meet some new ones. The food was great, the wine was too good(I would find out that later), and so was the company. It all seemed to go by too fast though. The recpetion was at Vintage Villas and it was a very nice view. After going to bed pretty late in our awesome bed, I got sick!

Enjoy the pics!

Halloween

Here are some pics from our adventures. I think Charles and I realized that we are getting and well...6th street just doesn't have the same appeal. It takes forever to get there, forever to walk where you want to go, and you don't get home till real late. Next Halloween I think we'll opt for a party instead.

Can you guess who we were? Thanks to Christie for making the costumes.

Doggies Day Out

This past weekend we took the pups to the park to play. Mouse was celebrating his birthday and all his friends were there. We were a little hesitant at first to take the dogs since Bailey barks at everything, they haven't really been off the lease too much, Rowdy is fast and almost uncatchable, and well...sometimes on the leash Bailey runs after cars.

So, we decided to go ahead and get out, after all it was a lovely day. To our surprise the dogs did rather well. Bailey didn't really run off as she was loving all the attention from different people and Rowdy was kept occupied with a giant orange frisbee.

Rowdy did go a little too hard, he ended up with so messy poop (if you know what I mean) and then like 30 seconds later he threw up. Too much exercise and excitment for the poor little Rowds. He's ok now though.

Maybe will make this a weekly thing while the weather stays nice. Maybe it will keep Rowdy from eating and licking the walls.

I'll add pics later...I left my USB cable at school.

Wow, just wow!

I just finished reading The Shack tonight and well all I can say is Wow. If you haven't read it I recommend you read it. It really makes you think about life, relationships, and spirituality. I don't want to give anything away, but man...just go and read it.

End of an era

Yes ladies and gentlemen, Charles finally got rid of his old phone. Can you believe it? I have the evidence. Take a look at these pictures.

It's about time too! Now I can have my phone back. Thank you Kyle!

STREP

So, Thursday morning I woke up and my throat was a little sore. I gargled a little salt water and headed off to school. Well, the morning went fine, but then a lunch I could hardly swallow at all. Gradually the soreness increased. While the kids were at recess, I called my doctor to see if I could get in, nothing was open till Friday. I made it through the day and went to the school nurse. She took my temp and it was 99.1 and looked at my throat. She said it was red and said I should go to a place near school that was open till 8. So I went, and they swabbed my throat and sent me to a room to wait for a doctor. When he came in he told me I had tested positive for strep. YUCK! That meant no school for me on Friday, luckily I sorta had an idea that I may not be attending school so I already had my sub lesson done. I ran by Walgreen's, got my prescription and some Motrin and came home. I got on the computer and put in for a sub, took my medicine and went to sleep.

All I did Friday was rest and drink plenty of fluids. I don't know where I picked up strep, I am guessing school, but I haven't had it in forever. Thank goodness I am feeling so much better now. Only, I am not ready for next week at school. Ahhhh, this means I'll be headed there on Sunday. A teachers work is never done.

Updates, school, and work

It's been awhile since the last blog, so I thought I would update on the goings on in the life of the Dougherty's. Well, I have started back to work and I have a really great class this year. I am so excited. Everything is going well so far. Charles has started back to school as well for his last few classes. He will even have some field experience this fall and student teach in the spring. He is still working for TU while he's not at class.

We are enjoying being married, not much has changed. Bailey and Rowdy are still rambunchous as ever. The other day Bailey pooped on the futon and Rowdy chewed on the wall. I thought they were past these behaviors. AHHHH!

Can't sleep...a blog about nothing

Alright, so it's late and I can't sleep. So I figured might as well blog, but what to blog about...hmmmm. I guess I could write about my dog that is snoring up a storm in the living room or my husband who is asleep in the next room or I could write about all the things that are going on in my head. There is just too much in there I wouldn't know where to begin. I guess me staying up late is me trying to prolong the day to keep it from becoming tomorrow. Each day that passes is one day closer to school starting. Don't get me wrong I don't dread it or anything, I am just getting used to summer and summer laziness. Plus all the fun stuff is happening now after the wedding. No more stress, no more worries...it's a pretty good feeling. Geez Rowdy is really snoring. He cracks me up sometimes. Because of his nose being smashed in his face he tends to snort and snore. It's kinda cute until you are trying to sleep. He's still a little hyperactive despite losing a couple of pieces of his male anatomy. One day, I guess when he's older. Oh,no writer's block...

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe it, summer is almost over and it's time to prepare for the next round of kiddos. It is a little scary and exciting all at the same time. My favorite part is getting the room ready. Each year my room looks very different, I manage to come up with some new way each year to do things. Change is good. Speaking of change this year comes with a bunch of them: my partner in crime moved, our principal left, as did our counselor, plus I start the year off with a new last name. So like I said scary and yet exciting.

Today I went to the Lakeshore store and Teacher Heaven and spent too much money. Teachers are always buying somethig to make this years class the best ever. At least that's what I try to do. I would love to buy everything at once and have the "perfect" classroom, but thats not possible. I think after 20-30 years I'll have the "perfect" room full of tons of things that I don't even know what to do with. All in all, I love it and can't imagine doing anything else. Thank god for summer...a time to rest and relax and prepare for the next year.

Here are pictures from last years room:

Good times with Aggies

Last night we decided to venture out to an Aggie happy hour, with a little help from Anna Beth. AB is one of my friends from A&M. She's lived almost everywhere, but now lives in Austin. Yayyyy!!!! Watch out Charles crazy times are ahead.

It turned out to be a pretty fun night. We got to meet some new people, sip on some Sangria, drink a few beers, and listen to the music of the spazmatics. All in all it was good fun.
