Boyce/Taylor Wedding

On June 11 we set out for Houston for a wedding weekend. Friday was the rehearsal and Saturday was the wedding. It was a lot of fun seeing good friends that we don't get to see that often. Everyone lives in different places now and it is getting harder to get together often. But when we do get together we always end up having tons of fun.

The boys modeling one of their gifts.
Yummy cakes!
The new Mr. and Mrs. Boyce!
Congrats!!! We are so happy for the both of you.

Week 22

Here's what is going on this week -

How your baby's growing:

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Week 21

Today I am officially 21 weeks into my pregnancy. Here's what Babycenter.com says:

How your baby's growing:

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Here is her first Aggie present. Thank you Emily!

Yesterday, June 3, I felt her nudge me a few times. This is the first time that I felt her move without thinking that it might be gas. For a first time mom it is hard to tell what is a real movement and what isn't....but I got a pretty good feeling that it was her. I guess now it is just going to get stronger as she gets bigger ...thus beginning the sleepless nights.

Baby's First Outfits

This one I bought for the baby.

I got these 2 as a gift from one of last years students.
My sister would like to point out these are not her only outfits...these are the only ones that I have right now. She has several cute ones that her Aunt Christie and her ..(well, not sure what she'll call my mom yet)...got her.

Baby Room and Baby names

On Thursday I came home after school to find Charles in the baby room cleaning and getting things ready. All the clutter that had been in the room was now gone and he had already put the crib together. I got a little emotional seeing the crib and the room that will soon be our daughters. Later that day, the glider and crib mattress arrived so he added those to the room. Yesterday we got the changing table as well. We got that more so for shelving purposes, I am not sure how often it will be used. All the furniture is in its place. Here's what the room looks like today.

Now time to register and settle on a name for our little girl. We are down to four names now. We started with 7 and then narrowed it down to 5, only to add another on the way to my parent's house. We took 2 off the list and here are the winners so far: Taylor, Peyton, Riley, Colby. (We aren't 100% on the spellings)

As far as registering goes, we will be using Target, Babies R Us, and Burlington's Baby Depot. This is getting to be a lot of fun!

Here's what our bedding will look like:

It's a girl!

Charles and I went to our 18 week ultrasound last Thursday and we found out that our little baby is going to be a girl! Right now she is very active and we got to see just about every part of her on the ultrasound. I'll add the pics once I scan them. Hopefully they turn out.

Crib!!!

My mom, my sister, and I were out and about on Friday (I didn't have school it was a holiday) and we just happened to go to Target. Well, My mom was looking at the adds and we saw the crib that Charles and I had picked out. It was on sale! So even though we hadn't set out to buy one...we did and here it is.
The baby's room isn't even close to being ready or even started being ready. We still have a lot of junk piled up in it. My school stuff, Christmas stuff and we even have all of our dvds and cds in there right now cause we are waiting on the arrival of our new entertainment center that should be done in about 3 weeks. We bought it from Furniture in the Raw and they are staining it for us. Once we get that, the room will be clean up gradually. We still have time. After all we don't find out until this Thursday what our little one will be. Plus we have all summer to get things done. :)

Week 14 appointment

Charles and I went to the doctor on Thursday. Unfortunately we did not get a peak at the baby, but we did get to hear the heartbeat. Everything sounded good and we could even hear the baby moving around. The most exciting thing we found out was that in 4 weeks, on May 13, we get to find out the gender of our baby. We are very excited. It will most likely be the last ultrasound. That part is a little sad, but in some cases there is a link between the number of ultrasounds and deafness/hearing loss in babies...so in a way I am glad, but sad at the same time. This will be our last peak at the little one until he/she arrives.

Week 13 and other news

I am finally beginning the 2nd trimester. Yayyy! Charles and I go back to the doctor on Thursday to get another peek at the baby. It's exciting but I really want to know the baby's gender so that we can start buying things and making plans. I'll post the new picture after school that day. :)

This morning I helped Charles print off some resumes and my printer started acting up. I ended up printing some out then Charles realized that when I helped him correct his objective I left out a word, so then we had to reprint all. ughhh!!! Well I got frustrated with myself and began to feel sick...not good and I don't think that the OJ helped any. I feel much better now and he is off at the job fair. Wish him luck! All he needs is his foot in the door somewhere and I know he's going to do a fabulous job.

Speaking of fabulous job, my school voted me Teacher of the year a couple of weeks ago, so my job today to fill out some of the paper work for that so that I can turn it in. I am not the best at putting things into words, but I hope it turns out ok. Thanks Carver friends!

Not a lot more to say, except that I am getting a bit more rounded at the mid section which is really new to me. I am pretty used to having a some what flat stomach and now it is not flat at all...but just knowing that there is a baby there makes it all better. I look forward to watching it grow...but hopefully not too big.

Week 10

Whew, we have made it to our first appointment. A task that we missed out on last time. I think we were both a little nervous and scared. I have still been having a lot of symptoms, but I guess until you really see it ...it's a little hard to believe.

The appointment went well, we got to see our little kumquat (that's the size it is right now) for the first time. It was moving around pretty good and we got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. That was a very special moment. I thought I would get emotional and cry, but I couldn't take my eyes of the ultrasound screen...there really is a baby in there. :) The doctor said that everything looks great and the heartbeat sounds very strong.

I feel ok...I am very tired, have to pee a lot, my pants feel a little bit snug, and I get nauseated at times. But other than that I feel pretty good.

Check out little Dougherty:

2010 and a surprise!

So Christmas has come and gone and the new year has begun. Happy 2010! I am really looking forward to see what the new year holds for us. 2009 was a hard year, so much happened...good things and bad. Last year in February we bought our house and we have almost been in it a year. We also celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. All good things. The 2009-2010 school year started much better than the last and in August I found out that I was pregnant, but in September I had a miscarriage. It was a very emotional time, but we made it through a little stronger.

In January, with the new year upon us we found out...

we are going to have a baby! It was a little scary at first, thinking that the same thing was going to happen again, but so far so good. I have surpassed the last time. Last time I was only pregnant for 7 1/2 weeks. Thankfully that has come and gone. With each passing day we count our blessings and we look forward to each new week of growth.

Since I haven't posted in a while...

Here's what you missed...

John and Charsy got married in October. We had a blast in Dallas.

We had our first Halloween party. That was also fun. Thanks to Christie for the decorations and costume fun. On Halloween we went to 6th street for even more fun.

Charles turned 30 on November 4th! Happy birthday babe! We had dinner at Z Tejas.

Now...

We are pretty much ready for Christmas. I am super glad to be on Christmas vacation. I need a well deserved break. The rest of this week will be filled with family fun and traditions. I can't wait to watch Christmas movies, snuggle on the couch, open presents, and look at lights.

Merry Christmas everyone!

How cute is this?

He loves his "house" so much he goes in there when he wants to, not just when we tell him to.

Who wears the pants?

Bailey and Rowdy wear the pants, but they can't get out of them! This is what we do when we get bored.

Hockey!

Yesterday we went to our second hockey game but our first at the new complex in Cedar Park. The Texas Stars played the Dallas Stars. It was pretty fun and the place is way better than the expo center where the Ice Bats used to play. We even got at shout out on the big screen. Thanks Jay for inviting us!

Go Stars!
